The Central Miombo woodlands are a remarkably diverse biosphere in Central Africa. In Tanzania, honey is sustainably gathered from tropical forests with an incredible variety of flowering plants. In their summer months (our winter), bees gather pollen throughout the forest in the traditional way along with honeydew from the branches of the trees. The result is a dark and richly complex honey that imparts the mead with notes of fig, plum, smoke, caramel, tropical flowers and wood. Miombo Summer Harvest pairs great with smoked meats, dried fruits and funky Spanish cheeses. We hope you enjoy this unique mead.
