One of the wonderful products of the great Northeast is maple syrup. Harvested late winter/early spring is the sap of maple trees which is boiled down to create maple syrup, a trademark product of the area. We use only local maple syrup to produce our Maple. Oak aged with a strong but not too sweet maple flavor this mead will harken back to memories of tapping maple trees as a child and boiling down the sap you collected to make syrup. Our goal was to capture the essence of the smokey caramelized aromas in the sap house. It is as strong as Heritage at 16% ABV, which allows us to retain quite a bit of maple flavor without the cloying sweetness that one might expect to accompany such bold mapleness.

Helderberg Meadworks is a family owned and operated craft meadery in upstate NY. We are one of a precious few wineries in the state who only produce mead. Owner and meadmaker Peter Voelker has been making a variety of meads for many years. In 2010 he decided to open the meadery with his wife Kirsten to share what many consider the best mead in the country. While many of you have no doubt seen and tasted the commonly available meads, very few have tasted mead like ours. Customers often describe it as "Old World" mead reminiscent of their ancestral family recipes from Europe.
